World Drivers’ Championship Wide Open With Four Races Left

Two racers are separated by one point going into the final four rounds of the illustrious 2025 season of F1. A third is chasing an impossible come-from-behind story to complete five consecutive World Drivers’ Championships. Four races and two sprints are all that stand in the way of a historical end.

As it stands, Lando Norris of the United Kingdom leads the standings with 357 points, followed by Australian Oscar Piastri, who lies one point shy of Norris.

In third, 36 points behind Norris, is Dutch driver Max Verstappen, whose late resurgence has brought him within his closest gap since the early part of the season.

The two McLaren drivers at the top find little to separate them: seven wins for Piastri and six for Norris.

For Verstappen, his current third place in the championship is relatively unfamiliar given recent years, but strangely liberating in its own way. Verstappen has nothing to lose, contrary to the two Papaya teammates in front, and has all the incentive to push as hard as possible to make something out of the last few races.

Expectations are on all three sets of shoulders, and the next stage of this battle takes place on November 9th in São Paulo, Brazil. Four Grand Prix, three contenders, and two sprints make way for one champion.
