Jon Jones Retires

On June 21, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White confirmed that Jon “Bones” Jones has officially retired from the sport. This concludes one of the most dominant UFC careers, filled with many memorable fights.

Jones got his first UFC title at 23 years of age, which declared him the youngest light heavyweight champion ever. Over the course of the rest of the years, he achieved many records in both lightweight and heavyweight competitions. He also has 12 UFC title defenses—an all-time record.

Since Jones has officially retired, the champion Tom Aspinall has won. Aspinall, who has always been a fierce competitor to Jones, now rises to the top of the UFC’s professional heavyweight athletes.

Jones hinted that this retirement would be final, setting fans to cease believing that he would come out of retirement soon. Jones departs the organization as one of the best to ever do it, with many achievements: the earliest champion, multi-division success, and unmatched records.
