George Foreman dies at 76

Famous heavyweight boxer and entrepreneur George Foreman died on March 21. He was 76 years old and surrounded by family when he passed away. ​

Born on Jan. 10, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, Foreman came from poor parents and later became one of boxing's most celebrated figures. His first big accomplishment was winning a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics. He went professional shortly after and had an impressive record of 76 wins: 68 by knockout. Also, Foreman won the world heavyweight title two different times, once against Joe Frazier and one at the age of 45– the oldest heavyweight champion in record.

He also founded the George Foreman Grill, and the George Foreman Youth and Community Center, which showed his reasons and his commitment to giving back to the community. ​The news of Foreman's passing had many celebrities pay tribute, especially in the sports world. Mike Tyson expressed his sorrow, saying that Foreman's impact on the boxing world would "never be forgotten."

Foreman is survived by his wife Mary Joan Martelly and his 11 children. His journey from a struggling boy to a boxing champion and successful businessman serves to inspire those who look up to him. As the world continues to mourn him and his death, Foreman’s legacy will continue to inspire millions.
